Iryna Makhovska is a  Ukrainian artist, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, currently lives and works in Denmark.

Iryna was born in Mariupol, Ukraine. She began drawing in early childhood.  After graduating from a Vocational school, in profession of an artist-decorator, Iryna worked as an artist in art workshops, performing various tasks for the design of public buildings in the city, creating paintings, sculptures, and art objects from various materials. Also Iryna worked as a teacher of painting, graphics, composition and art history at the Kuindzhi Artschool in Mariupol. Iryna took part in plein airs, master classes,  international exhibitions. 

 

Her watercolor "Spring 2022" shows the emotions of people who were in Mariupol during the fighting.

The artist continues to work, creating new paintings and graphics in Denmark.

Iryna's first solo exhibition in Denmark was opened by the Mayor of Randers Municipality  Torben Hansen, thereby laying the foundation for subsequent solo exhibitions in Aarhus and Langaa. One of Iryna’s paintings was used in  the New Year’s speech of Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.​

In October 2023, the artist is working at the Klitgaarden Refugium, art-residency on Skagen, with the support of the Displaced Artists Network. Her new painting  are increasingly surreal, while the artist experiments with techniques in acrylic painting. Iryna  works in various techniques, oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, drawing, in various  genres, revealing and exploring new aspects of the sensations of the intangible world.

Artworks are published in catalogues and are in public and private collections.

During the full-scale russian invasion, Iryna's hometown  was heavily destroyed and occupied, but she survived and moved  to Denmark.
